Polar Bears are solitary creatures, but on rare occasions they gather together for reasons unknown. When this occurs, the group is referred to as “a celebration of Polar Bears.” I imagine the sight of such a gathering would be as inspiring as the northern lights shining  in those clear arctic skies.

The theme  “celebration” caused me to think about what is truly worth celebrating… a world where the future is healthy and balanced; where every creature has the resources it requires to fulfill the measure of its life.  A Celebration of Polar Bears represents a world where even though our lives are our own, should we cross paths with one another, we might do so peacefully and enjoy our brief moment of togetherness. While our world is far from perfect, there are still so many things worth celebrating. I hope we may all take time to enjoy the view, and each other.

The Wide Eyed Editions Illustration Competition is open to new and aspiring illustrators who are not yet commercially published or represented by agents. To commemorate Wide Eyed Editions' 10th year anniversary, the theme of the competition is 'Celebration,' offering artists the opportunity to interpret and express what celebration means to them.
