Megan Liljenquist is an American freelance illustrator unafraid to color between the lines of whimsy and realism. Her artistic style demonstrates a soft type of magic, creating space for both wonder and play. Bold use of color, rich textures, and dynamic compositions beautifully showcase just how powerful picture books can be in bringing families, cultures, and generations together through shared stories.
With an exciting freelance career well underway, she currently has four self-published books and has worked with dozens of clients to bring their stories to life. She graduated with a Fine Art degree from Arizona State University in 2010, and has spent much of her professional career in positions to help give children of all ages access and education in art. Megan is inspired by the stories of connection found in history, nature, and mythology... For her, these are the places where real world and fantasy come together.
A lifelong desert dweller, she and her family recently relocated to West Virgina, where she’ll be experiencing seasons for the first time in her life. Out of the studio, Megan prefers to be with her husband and four children- either camping, hiking, or swimming. She also prefers her drinks to be more ice than liquid.
